It felt like his heart stopped in his chest. In front of him was something like a scene from a horror movie, only it was real life. For days, he waited for this moment – to finally find out what exactly happened to the food that was in his apartment. Food does not simply disappear. There had to be a logical explanation for all of it. However, his girlfriend kept denying that she was the culprit, so he wanted to have proof that he wasn’t going crazy. Finally, he had proof but it was something that he never wanted to see.

Actor Joe Cummings has been living in Manhattan, New York for two years. Making ends meet in the city has not been easy for Joe, so he is always wary of his expenses. When he noticed that the food in his pantry and fridge started going quickly and he had to shop more often, he became worried. He had not changed his routine, so he was not eating more than usual. Someone else was living with him, though, and this person might know why this was happening.

Joe and his girlfriend lived together and they had a good relationship. However, the problem he had with the food began to gnaw at him. One night, he awoke to strange noises that came from the kitchen. There was a creaking door, a thump on the floor, and some steps. He was confused and wondered if he was still asleep and dreaming or if he was hearing something real. The next morning, he discovered that some of the food from the night before disappeared. He realized he needed to do something about it.

Joe asked his girlfriend whether she had eaten at night in secret. “I continued to find missing food in my apartment and I knew I was not eating,” he said. “I confronted my girlfriend who lives with me about it and she says she did not eat it.” Although Joe would rather not think of his girlfriend as a liar, he also knew there was something happening with the food. Perhaps she had no idea that she was a sleepwalker. Heck, maybe he was. The only way to find out was to get evidence.

Another thought came to Joe. Perhaps it was an animal who came into the apartment and took the food. However, that seemed very unlikely. Because he lived in a neighborhood that was not exactly safe, he always made sure he locked all of the windows and doors at night. In addition, the missing food had been in the refrigerator and he knew that no creature could open the doors of the fridge. It must have been someone or something else. And he decided he was done guessing. He knew he had to act.

Joe purchased a security camera that had night vision and set it up at a corner in the kitchen, near the roof. He made sure that the view of the fridge and the pantry would be unobstructed and the camera would be able to record everything. He decided not to say anything to his girlfriend about his plan so that she would be caught in the act if indeed it was her. He pressed record and went about his day. The following morning, prepared to finally get to the bottom of things, he took the memory card out of the camera and checked the footage.

Something Starts To Stir
The video starts pretty normal. Joe and his girlfriend can be seen getting ready for bed and turning off all the lights. In the next two hours, no movement can be seen, except for the occasional lights that come from the street. Suddenly, something starts to stir. However, nothing could have gotten Joe ready for what he was going to see. He had been anxious to know the truth, but it turned out that he was actually not ready at all.

Out of breath, Joe watches as a woman slowly comes out of the storage space above the kitchen entrance. At first he thinks, “My girlfriend must have discovered the camera and done it to give me a joke.” However, he feels the hairs on his nape stand up. He is not exactly sure what he is watching but he feels that something is not right. Joe continues to watch the video, hypnotized.

After leaving the reserve, the woman crawls on a table. She stabilizes, reaches out to grab a nearby step, and then jumps to the ground. Joe got the impression that this was not the first time she has done this. His mind was racing as he tried to understand why his girlfriend would put so much effort into doing all of this. The woman then looks up and he sees her face. She was not his girlfriend.

The woman is a complete stranger! Joe cannot believe his eyes. Despite his horror, he does not stop watching the video. He sees her go around his kitchen comfortably as if it were hers! She opens the refrigerator door and drinks juice directly out of the box. She then climbs on the sink to pee. It is a nightmare unfolding before his eyes, but Joe continues to watch. It keeps getting worse, though.

At one point, the woman sits on Joe’s couch, nibbling. She then hears a noise coming from the bedroom, hurriedly goes to the kitchen, and hides. Joe appears in the video and goes to the refrigerator to get a glass of water. Then, a few minutes after the woman’s departure, she returns and continues her food attack. Even though it takes hours, Joe cannot stop watching the footage, seemingly transfixed.

Joe watches the morning light starting to appear. The woman crawls back into the storage area. A few moments later, he sees himself coming into the kitchen, wearing his everyday clothes. Then, he opens the refrigerator and drinks the juice directly out of the box, just like what the woman did a couple of hours before. He watches the video until it ends and stays still while digesting its implications.

Joe felt relief but he was also terrified. The video proved that he was not going crazy and someone had indeed stolen his food, but unlike what he had initially thought, his girlfriend was not the culprit. The truth was much worse. A strange woman was in his apartment, hiding in the storage area in the kitchen just a few steps from his bedroom. He felt the need to leave his apartment, quickly.

Grabbing his computer, Joe hurriedly left his apartment and rushed to the police station. He told the authorities what had happened before showing them the security footage. “I do not know how she got there,” he explained. “The only way to get in is through the window because I’m on the top floor and there’s an escape route.” Then, the cops went with Joe to his home, where they arrested the woman. However, they discovered something else that made Joe even more petrified.

When the police questioned the woman, they found out that she had been in Joe’s apartment for two weeks, at least. “The police think she will probably steal from me when I’m gone and decide to stay in the crawl space,” Joe said. When the ordeal ended, he uploaded the terrifying footage on YouTube, where it soon became viral. Many doubt Joe’s story, but there is no harm in checking your storage space regularly. This is actually not the first time a thing like this has happened.

She felt as if a horror movie had come to life. She even wondered if this was some very lucid nightmare. She could not think of any other explanation for what was happening. However, it was not fiction. He was there, in her home, since who knows when and without her having any idea. When all of the implications of this started to dawn on her, she could not stop herself from panicking.

Tracy did not have an easy life even before this incident. She was a single mom of five and their family lived in Rock Hill in South Carolina. Making ends meet and providing for her family was a struggle for her. Even though some of Tracy’s children were now grown up, the entire family still lived together in their home to reduce costs. In spite of their circumstances, they had a happy family life. However, something started to happen which threatened all that.

One day, Tracy began hearing strange noises from the attic. Her first thought was an intruder had come into their home, but she was always really careful to lock all the windows and doors. It was a precaution that she took because the part of the city where they lived in was poor and burglaries were rather common. Since she did not see any sign of forced entry, she chalked everything up to her imagination. However, she soon started to wonder if there was anything else happening.

Over the next couple of days, there were still random sounds coming from the attic. Tracy asked her children whether they played in the attic, but all of them said no and she believed them. Dark and moldy, the attic was not a place kids would consider fun. In fact, she hardly ever went up there, and only did so when she had to store something. However, the noises continued, and she came up with a different theory.

One day, while Tracy was cleaning the house, she realized the sounds from the attic were moving to different rooms. Then, a thought came to her – maybe the strange noises came from a raccoon or possum which had somehow gotten into her house. She would have to call animal control, but it was a Saturday. Since they did not work weekends, she waited until Monday. It seemed like whatever was in the attic had other projects, though.

Around two-thirty in the morning, Tracy woke up to creaking sounds on the ceiling. This time, however, there were also gentle beat noises coming from the floor in her own room, so she looked down. In the light of the night, Tracy saw a few nails on the carpet. She then realized the nails had come from the planks on the ceiling. Her heart stopped. This was definitely not something a raccoon or a possum could do.

Tracy remembers that she thought, “There were poltergeist problems.” Terrified to go and investigate the attic, she did what she thought was the best thing to do at the time – she hid under the covers and tried her best to fall asleep. However, she knew she needed to do something about the presence in her attic. She simply could not keep living like this. When morning came, she decided to act.

In the morning, Tracy heard that her nephew was coming over to visit her grown-up sons. She was relieved and the three young men’s presence comforted her. After telling them about the noise from the ceiling, she asked the three to check the attic. Tracy waited in the hallway, right outside the attic door, while the men climbed. However, nothing could have prepared them for what they were about to find.

Once the young men got to the attic, they realized something was definitely wrong. Right away, they were struck by a strong nauseating odor and saw garbage scattered all over the floor. They also noticed that all the old jackets and coats which Tracy kept in storage were in the corner near the heating unit. Then, the young men saw something they never thought they would see there – a body.

As soon as the young men started to move inside the attic, the body stirred. Apparently, he had been sleeping there before they went up. They looked at him and he looked at them – surprised to see each other there. For a few seconds, no one moved. Then, the man got up, rushed towards them, went down the stairs, and took off. As he escaped, Tracy was able to see the man and came to the terrible realization that she knew him.

Although the family called the cops, the man had already escaped before they arrived. That was not the worst, though. Tracy recognized the intruder. About 12 years before, the family had hired him to do some home repairs. He and Tracy were together for a bit, but she broke up with him since he showed criminal behavior. The breakup did not sit well with the man and so he fought back.

The man wanted to meet Tracy, but she refused. One day, he stole a truck, but he got caught and was sent to prison. Even when he was locked up, the man continued to harass Tracy, sending her letters, where he told her he had changed and begged her to pick him up. Tracy heard a rumor that he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina when he got released from prison. This was the worst possible way to discover the truth.

The police came to Tracy’s home to respond to the call and search the attic. It seemed as if he had been staying there for a couple of weeks. Tracy says, “He had packed all the old coats and jackets in the heating unit and was sleeping in the heating unit.” They also found several plastic cups that he used to relieve himself, explaining the bad smell. However, they soon made a more frightening discovery.

The investigators discovered that the vents on the ceiling in Tracy’s room had been installed by the intruder so he could watch her. Tracy was horrified at the thought of spy eyes on her. “I am stunned,” she revealed in an interview. She added, “How can you look at someone through a vent?” To make matters worse, the investigators still had no idea how the intruder had entered the attic. The only way to enter the attic is through the door in the hallway between the bedrooms of Tracy’s children. The threat remained.

The police may know his identity, but the man managed to escape from them and is on the run to this day. A few days after the incident, Tracy thought she had seen him near her house, though the police were unable to find him. Talking about getting justice, she said “I want him to be charged.” She continued, “It could be someone else to whom he is doing the same thing, but she might not be so lucky.”
