Boeing 727-400

The airplane that Bruce Campbell decided to use for his Oregon airplane home is none other than a Boeing 727-400 unit. This model was manufactured by Boeing from 1960 until 1984 as a passenger plane for short and medium-length flights. The reason behind this is because this airliner could use shorter runways found at smaller airports.

The airplane is actually the only model Boeing Commercial Airplanes created with a total of three engines. The seating capacity is generally anywhere from 149 to 189 passengers. Delta Air Lines served as the last major U.S. carrier to have used it and they retired their last Boeing 727 back in April 2003. Meanwhile, Northwest Airlines decided to pull the plug on their Boeing 727 units in June 2003. These days, Iran Aseman Airlines is the only carrier in the world that still uses Boeing 727-200 units for passenger flights.

A Bleak Past

Did you know that the Boeing 727 carries a fascinating past? Before Campbell bought it and converted it into his home, the aircraft was used to take different people to various destinations. However, not many passenger planes can brag that it transported the dead body of a famous person!

Can you believe that what is now Campbell’s abode once brought back the cadaver of Aristotle Onassis? The Greek tycoon was flown from France to Greece on March 15, 1975 aboard this steel bird after he died of respiratory failure. Moreover, the socialite and former FLOTUS Jackie Kennedy Onassis also boarded the plane to accompany the body of her longtime friend and second husband. That’s pretty impressive if you ask us!
