The organization, more commonly known as AFRA, directs its attention on the promotion of sustainable aircraft and engines practices. A different spokesperson explains that about 1,200 to 1,800 units will be deconstructed in the next three years. Meanwhile, 500 to 600 other aircraft will be annually retired in the following twenty years! If everyone follows in Bruce Campbell’s footsteps, those digits would translate to a large number of homes.

Campbell chose to assemble the Boeing 727 airplane home in the woods of Hillsboro for several simple reasons. Let’s start by talking about the job offer he received to work in the area after his graduation back in the 70s. Next, he enjoys the greenery of the area. In fact, he wrote this on his website: “I like the area and it’s very green and Oregon is a little independent-minded which appealed to me. It’s a country setting, it’s very nice. It’s more than enough for the aircraft.”
