From an early age, Bruce was already in the habit of tinkering with various materials and things to turn them into new objects. Initially, his plan for the land was to construct a home using several freight vans. In the beginning, he thought that this was a solid, innovative, and wonderful plan. However, things began to change when he heard about the home someone else built.

Nearly two decades later, he got wind of the story of a Mississippi hairdresser named Joanne Ussery. She bought a Boeing 727 airliner and converted it into her own home. She once had a regular house but unfortunately, it burned down in a fire. She therefore decided to make a functional airplane home located right beside a serene lake.
