The Tunics Are Not Long
When Joan had found some evidence in this era, she thought that some average men wore a tunic. However, it was not long enough that it would be similar to the illustrations. All men who were living in that period were dressed in a knee-length tunic. It made them more flexible when they would perform their daily work efficiently. Any clothing that was longer than those tunics was impractical to the wire, especially when they were doing their job.
Only Upper-Class Can Wear Full-Length Robes
Joan also found that there were various classes of people living in that era. Most of the upper-class would sometimes wear full-length cloaks or robes. It could mean that they were boasting their social status, and they did not need to work to live in those days. The historian thought that this would be another evidence about what the Messiah looked like. Jesus did not wear that kind of robes because he was just a modest man.
